Heather watts - where the flowers went

Because of his noxious spray, the skunk has a natural flair for handling unruly protesters. He exists in a world of black and white, confident in the justness and necessity of his actions.

The classic folk song "Where Have All the Flowers Gone?" ends with a description of graveyards covered in flowers. Pictured here are the flowers that refused to grow on graves.
Heather watts - der himmel f llt the sky is falling

The children's story Chicken Little cautions us not to be too quick to panic. This painting tells the opposite story.

Here the sky really is falling, but the characters stubbornly disregard reality. Futilely dragging a flawed and doomed ideology across the smoking battlefield, they forfeit their lives for an indefensible cause.

In the natural world, parts of the globe experience an annual apocalypse known as "Winter." Leaves wither, insects die, birds flee. The mammals, in their wisdom, go underground.

In the moments before things pitch into the abyss, leaves blaze red and life convulses in a climax of scurrying and burrowing. For an istant, the last day of autumn teeters brilliantly. Pictured here is its descent into dusk.

The 1965 pop-folk protest anthem "Eve of Destruction" has always struck me in a similar way, blossoming defiantly from a time of impending madness with a simple aching beauty.

Signed and numbered giclee prints available. Limited edition of 50 on archival matte paper. Paper size is 11" x 14" including a border of approximately 1.5" top & bottom and 2" on the sides. Fits in a standard 11" x 14" frame. $65.00

In this particular incarnation, they hover between the phantoms and specters of yesterday's Great Depression and tomorrow's environmental cataclysm.

I prefer at more literal take: Death visiting the amusement park, caught up in a rare moment of carefree abandon and lost in the thrill of the ride.
The snails are no doubt receptive pupils, having been born with their cover already on their backs.

Note: Text in the book reads: "Duck and Cover"
Heather watts - who says you can t eat democracy
Realism insists that civil order, a functioning economy and potable water are far more palatable–a fact the architects of the "peace" failed to grasp. This painting examines the fallout of their failure.

Confined to his room, he initiates the game of high stakes dominos that will be used to justify America's military presence in Southeast Asia. He sits atop a Vietnamese Flag, with pop-gun, drum and stuffed panda bear stowed nearby.
Heather watts - the pale horse finds his calling

It represents the cyclic nature of the world, the fundamental unity of things, and in some cases, the vicious cycle.

Ethics aside, who better to sell a universal cure-all than the harbinger of apocalypse himself? The creator of the ailment dispenses its cure. The circle closes. The snake bites its tail.
